Folks - Janet Scott from SCTCI has a few Dynavox issues that she is taking
up with the Company. I am forwarding her email to assistech (with her
permission) as I thought it had relevance to some people on assistech. So
here it is:

Hi everyone
I am trying to contact as many people as I know who might be using one of
the new DynaVox products.
As you may be aware there have been some problems with the earlier versions
of the DV4 and the MT4, and with the MightyMo and the MiniMo. Many of
these problems/bugs may now have been resolved with the recent-ish software
upgrades (1.06 in the DV4/MT4s and 1.02 in the Mighty/MiniMOs).
For some of us who are using these devices on a regular basis, and with a
wide variety of clients, there are still some unresolved issues. We have
been in lots of discussion with the DynaVox staff in the UK and during the
Communication Matters conference Bob Gowdie, the medical technical officer
here at SCTCI, and I took the opportunity to talk to Joe Swenson, President
of DynaVox Systems in the USA. Following on from these discussions Bob has
had various telephone conversations with the R+D guys in the States and we
have been sent over prototype alternative keyguards to try with people.
As a result of these various discussions Bob and I have been invited over to
DynaVox in Pittsburgh to meet face to face with the R+D team to try and work
through some of the issues with the devices .... however I am very aware
that our experience with the machines might well be very different from your
experience. If there are things you really like about the new products - or
if there are things that really bug you about them - this is your
opportunity to get your feedback straight to the designers. Bob and I are
going over mid-January and we'd like it not just to be a "SCTCI moan"
session - we'd really like to be able to take us much constructive feedback
as we can - both positive, negative and suggestions/wish lists.
If you've got any comments - please email them to me (with as much detail as
possible) and I will take your comments with me to the States - I'll also
let you know the outcome of our visit.
If you don't actually use one of these devices, but know of people who do
could you please forward this email to them.

Could I also stress that the problems must be related either to the
hardware or to the most
recent version of the software - 1.06 for the DV/MT4s or 1.02 for the
Mighty/MiniMos

Many thanks

It would be helpful if you could write your comments in a sort of standard
format e.g.
* Name of Device: DV4/MT4/MightyMo/MiniMo
* Software version:
* General description ie what you like/don't like about the product; what
you wished it did
* Specific comments - it would be really helpful if you could give real
examples/situations e.g. when I copy and paste pages (using the Edit
Operations function) in my MightyMo I sometimes appear to lose the original
page and am left with my "copy of ..." page and my new page instead of the
original page an my new page; some of the PCS "heads" are missing etc etc
(By the way - ....IF your problem is that the heads are missing, type in
"pers" into the search box and lo and behold all the heads are there! But a
funny happens with the higher numbers ... have a look!); my client hooks
their fingers under the keyguard and it snaps etc etc .....
* Information about the access method used etc
