Hello everyone.
One of our Oncologists has asked if Dihydropyrimidine Dehydrogenase
(DPD) assay is available within the U.K? (Assay Finder lists one lab in
Germany).
This enzyme metabolises Capecitabine and apparently 3-4% of the
population have low DPD activity which increases their risk of
toxicity.
Is it worth screening for DPD deficiency prior to stating
Capecitabine?
Thanks, Wayne Bradbury.
