Dear colleagues,
I am writing to ask if anyone has seen severe complications from the use of BZP * Benyzlpiperazine? BZP is a party drug, also known as: Herbal Highs, Scarfies, Rapture, Charge, Jet, Bliss, Rambo, Bulldog, Whizzers (if you want to ask your children).
We have recently encountered a couple of cases where teenagers were admitted with seizures and acidosis (pH < 6.8). All survived after having spent one night on ITU. There are reports in the literature describing fatal complications but these appear to be related to poly drug ingestion.
I would be grateful to hear if anyone has had a similar experience.
Who can help explaining the metabolism and potential polymorphism of BZP?
Thanks
Wolf
