medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear me!
This is not to say that crystals and animal blood or wicker people have no
place in understanding modern and ancient folk cultures. But the druids and
other serious Celtic people would have been appalled at this distortion... I
at least think... As to humour : yes, I laughed. But then, I thought... is
this what we are coming to, God forbid?

medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear medieval-religion colleagues,
Overcome by a flash of good humour (as happens once a decade or so), I
thought you might find the following advertisement in the lateset online
version of the *Chronicle for Higher Education* interesting ...

Adjunct Lecturer in Celtic Spirituality -- Bishop Beaver College -- United
Kingdom
St. Arius Adjunct Lectureship in Celtic Spirituality
The Centre for Celtic
Spirituality at Bishop Beaver College seeks enquiries into the methods and
substance of Celtic Spirituality from prehistoric times to the modern day.
Proposals that address more than two historical periods or that make
references to crystals will be especially welcomed. Successful proposals in
the past have come from Adjunct Lecturers who were able to contribute to
the teaching of Celtic Spirituality at the Centre by staging attractive
public spectacles such as the burning of wicker men (1999), or the
ceremonial dousing of a sacred grove in animal blood at East Parks (2001).
This is a non-stipenidiary lectureship.

Intrigued after reading this, I did a search for this institution, and came
up with the site:

If you scroll down about 60% of the page, click on the link:
Bishop Beaver College Annual Yuletide Fête
and read on.
Somebody paid good money to have this 'post' advertised in the Chronicle!
Best wishes, George
