> Dominic of Silos (d. 1073) Dominic was a peasant of Navarre....went on to
the monastery of San Sebastian at Silos. He became abbot, reformed the
monastery, and made it into one of the leading communities of Spain, noted
especially for its fine manuscript illumination.
and, shortly after D's time, for its wonderful, quintessentially "romanesque",
sculpture in the cloister

etc.
even the later, "Gothic" reliefs retain their "romanesque" quality

these .jpgs are all on this page

which seems to have on-line most of the photograps from the Conway
Photographic Library of the Courtauld Institute of the University of London.
the photos are generally quite good, though all seem to be B&W, some of rather
obscure places.
i note that the ones from Silos were taken by George Zarnecki, one of the
foremost scholars to have worked on all aspects of "romanesque" sculpture.
and, of course, the Monks of Silos had an international Bestseller a few years
ago with their Gregorian Chant CD

despite its most unfortunate cover (not the one they used for the original
release, which had a nice, sober picture of the Cloister), this is serious
Chant and well worth the $3.00 or so which it might cost in a used CD bin near
you.
best from here,
Christopher
