Apologies for cross-postings
Recently I sent a message to this list indicating that a group was forming to initiate political change around disability within the American Philosophical Association (APA) and professional philosophy more generally and to develop a formal APA disability/anti-disability committee. With close to sixty members, the new group is a success, and I am pleased to announce that thanks to the generous support of Professor Joan Callahan (Chair of the Inclusiveness Committee of the APA) and the University of Kentucky the group now has a formal discussion listserv --PHIDISCOLL (PhilosophyDisabilityCollective). We would welcome new participants in the effort.
If you would like to subscribe to PHIDISCOLL, please send me your full name and email address in this form: Shelley Tremain [log in to unmask]
This message banner [i.e. the blurb that appears at the bottom of each message sent to PHIDISCOLL] describes the list's mandate:
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________
**********************************************************************************************************
The PHIDISCOLL listserv is intended as a forum to discuss problems of access to, and exclusion from, professional philosophy generally, and particularly, the American Philosophical Association, its meetings, its placement practices, its information, and other resources. Subscribers to this listserv also aim to develop a formal Disability/Anti-Disability Committee within the APA.
This list is NOT intended as a disability research discussion list or a list about disability in the larger social context (though our discussions may at times converge with these subjects). If you find that the discussion is not what you expected, please use the instructions you received when you joined the list in order to leave it. If you wish to be directed to one of the several very good disability research discussion lists, please contact Shelley Tremain off-list (i.e., privately) at <[log in to unmask]> for information and directions to these internet resources.
