Today (2. November) is the feast day of:
All souls (i.e., people not included in the "all saints" celebration
yesterday, but all books of saints seem to include this celebration,
so I will too.
Victorinus (d. c. 303) Victorinus was a Greek who became bishop of
Pettau in upper Pannonia. He wrote biblical commentaries and argued
with heretics before being martyred during Diocletian's persecution.
Justus of Trieste (d. 303) Another victim of Diocletian's
persecution, Justus was a layman, noted for his penitential practices
and charity. He was weighted down and thrown into the sea; a priest
later buried J's body where it washed up.
Marcian (d. c. 387) A noble Syrian, Marcian became a hermit near
Antioch. He attracted many disciples, whom he formed into a
monastery.
Thomas Netter of Walden (d. 1430) The subject of an unconfirmed
cult, Thomas Netter was a native of Essex who became a Carmelite. He
was an active opponent of Lollards, attended the council of
Constance, and served as confessor to King Henry V.
