COPYRIGHT FOR BEGINNERS
10 February 2005, Birmingham
Everything library and information professionals need to know about copyright but wish they didn't.
This workshop leads the participants through the confusing copyright maze. It will begin with the basic principles and concepts of copyright law, and end with the more complex area of electronic copyright. Recent legislation implemented as a result of the EU Copyright Directive will be explained, and there will be an opportunity to discuss unresolved issues.
BENEFITS FROM ATTENDING
By the end of the event participants will:
* be more knowledgeable of copyright and its various exceptions & limitations
* be more confident to provide a service without breaking copyright law
* be up to date on electronic copyright issues
Throughout the day the participants will be given the opportunity to work on case studies to test their knowledge.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Anyone affected by copyright issues in a library and information provision environment will benefit from this workshop. It is aimed at those with little knowledge, but would also be of use to anyone wanting a refresher course in light of recent changes.
