Both, I believe, wore white habits with red crosses on them. For
short, then, since there were already "white" and "black" monks, they
could have been referred to as "red" monks. That is, it would be too long
to say "white with red cross monks" and since "white monks" was taken....
But could we please have confirmation that these/other orders
(Western European & factual, please) were so called? Britanny is not
isolated, but is a small area given the possibilities, after all.
