medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Great story - is it written anywhere, or is this part of oral tradition?

The Non=scholarly, but the best story I have on St. Michael in Southern Italy is that once during a drought the people were angered that he didn't make it rain so they ripped the wings off his statue and hung him upside down in a well to punish him. Apparently the saint were truly part of the family in this period of time. :)
