Hello,
This is the second circular for the up coming "Research in Progress" Meeting at the Dept. of Geology, University of Leicester.
We are delighted to welcome new and present PhD, MSc and MGeol students with an interest in structural geology, tectonics, tectono-physics, etc., to attend and meet their peers. We will be hosting a short series of talks by students (approx 20 min each), and presentations by Dr. Zoë Shipton (Glasgow) and Dr. Steve Jolley (Shell UK).
We intend this meeting to be a forum for post-graduate and senior graduate researchers to meet each other and develop links between students in different UK and Ireland departments. We hope that students at early stages of their research will give talks and posters without feeling any pressure to produce results or definitive conclusions. We hope that this meeting will increase the profile of TSG within the post-graduate community, and lead to greater participation at the Annual Meeting (January 2006, Plymouth).
Students interested in attending should contact me ([log in to unmask]) by MONDAY 18th October for further details. I envisage requesting abstracts for talks if there is sufficient interest.
We intend to gather on Friday (12th) evening for drinks and curry, followed by the meeting the next day. I can provide some floor / sofa accommodation for those interested, and details of B&Bs / hostels for others.
Thanks
Graham
