medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
You could also try Diane Bornstein's 'The Lady in the Tower'- rather general
and polemical, but contains references to many primary sources. At the time
I consulted it, I was more interested in secular literature, but it probably
contained church writings as well.
