"1 in 6000"
Did you know? More than 6,000 people commit suicide in this country(U.K)
every year.
The governments proposed Mental Health Bill seeks to introduce community
treatment orders with enforced medication. The very people who urgently need
help are too afraid to seek it.
If there had been:
A crisis house available;
A 24 hour help line;
Sympathetic treatment on offer;
Maybe David Kelly and 5,999 others would still be alive.
Worth trying isn't it?
Force the issue
Not the patients
Mad Pride is........
Mad Pride was formed in 1997 and is comprised of ex-psychiatric patients and
enlightened others. Sick of the "loony" tag, outraged by increasing stigma
and legislative attempts to nab us and jab us, we campaign for urgent
issues, risking our necks and the wrath of our shrinks.
Fuss about nothing?
If you think we're making a fuss about nothing, just look at the tabloids or
try getting a job with a mental health record, or look at the rising death
figures of people who are over prescribed toxic drugs.
Stop the Suicides
The stop the suicide campaigning was launched after another painful death of
someone we all loved.
We say: too much now
We are pleading with the government to stop ignoring the thousands of deaths
and treat us humanely. More money is given to animal welfare charities than
mental health charities. The government claims that 1 in 6 adults in London
has severe mental illness. This must touch every family in the city. It's
time we looked after our own.
David Kelly's death was preventable. So are 5,999 others every year.
