I usually allow my students an option to rewrite papers, and often
get feedback that the students got a laugh out of their own mistakes,
when they were pointed out (perhaps with an appropriate drawing in
the margin).
In my last batch of finals, I discovered that medieval people made
their sons monks and their daughters abysses.
