mmmm.... though it is in the diocese, i wouldn't say that Tiron (now
"Thiron-Gardais")

In the _arrondisment_ of Nogent-le-Rotrou, 13km East of that important
_castrum_ and about 40km West-South-West of Chartres, it is technically in the
Perche, something of a _marche_ area bordering the lands of the Counts of
Chartres and the Maine, and the Ducs of Normandy/kings of England, with the
King of France not far away, in the Drouais.
all these geo-political connections are, if i remember rightly, reflected in
the charters of the surviving cartulary, the curious manuscript of which is in
the Archives in Chartres, and was published by Lucien Merlet in 1883
