THE NATIONAL COLLABORATING CENTRE FOR CANCER (NCC-C)
RESEARCHER
£25,295 - £27,378 per annum (Full-time/Part Time also considered).
Reference Number: VEL346
Benefits - Guaranteed final salary pension and life assurance cover
The NCC-C, based in Cardiff, is one of seven Collaborating Centres
established by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE). The
main remit of the Centre is to develop and produce evidence-based service
guidance and clinical guidelines for the NHS in England and Wales on
treating and caring for people with cancer. The Centre, which is based in
Cardiff City Centre, is managed by Velindre NHS Trust, in partnership with
the University of Wales College of Medicine and other key organisations,
representing relevant health professions and patient groups.
Your role will involve producing critical reviews of research evidence,
epidemiological and NHS activity data to inform the work of the guideline
development groups on behalf of the NCC-C. You will also contribute to the
day-to-day running of the Centre and to participate in its quality and
research activities.
As a graduate in a science, biomedical or health related subject, you will
have first rate experience of literature searching, synthesis of research
evidence, analysis of quantitative data, biostatistics and writing
reports. Experience of clinical guideline development and presenting to
small groups is desirable. The ability to work within a multi-disciplinary
environment is essential, as is an understanding of evidence-based
healthcare and appropriate methods used in Health Service Research.
Experience in oncology would be particularly welcomed. With excellent
communication skills, you will be able to work on your own initiative as
well as within a team, and adhere to tight deadlines.
