Dear Iain (and everyone else!),
There is no harm in responding publicly over your two queries, partly
because someone will now help with your second query - won't they?!
Eng. & Wales S.204, OS Liverpool District: I would surmise that the
post-World War 2 typist made an error in publication date. I, too, "am
looking to find out which printing this [is] from." - but this cannot happen
until it is returned later this month (?) from its 2-years' inaccessible
out-storage.
Eng. & Wales S.218, Population maps Mersey & Dee 1801-1921: again, this
material is not yet returned from out-storage, so I cannot tell you much
about them. Referring to our accessions register/day-book, however, reveals
the following extra information that may help Tinho da Cruz (our 'Lis-maps
Man') to identify these more precisely:-
"Thirteen population maps for region around estuaries of Mersey and Dee
showing relative density of population in township for years 1801, 1811, [.
. .], 1911 and 1921. Liverpool : University Press of Liverpool for the
Liverpool and District Regional Survey Association, 1924.". These were
purchased for £0.12.6 ['Real Money']
The which indicates that this is probably a separate flat set of the maps
produced, perhaps, to be normally folded into an end pocket of a text
report.

Subject: whoops!
Apologies to the list for sending this broadly . The inquiry should
have been to Francis directly.
