Good morning Ken (and all),
The short answer to your question is 'Yes'. But perhaps this should be
amplified?
1) In 'The Geographical Journal' (London : RGS), March 1952, 118(1), p.[61]:
'Bala Lake' by A[nita]. M. Ferrar, scale [ca 1:27 000].
2) In 'GJ', June 1961, 127(2), p.[206]: Llyn Cwellyn, Llyn Dinas, Llyn
Gwynant, & Llyn Peris by A[nita]. M. Ferrar, scale [ca 1:15 800].
3) In 'GJ', October 1973, 139(3), p.[517]: Llyn Cowlyd, Llyn Crafnant, Llyn
Geirionydd, Llyn Llydaw, Llyn Ogwen, & Llyn Padarn by A[nita]. M. Ferrar,
scale [ca 1:21 600]
All three 'GJ' articles, to which these maps are accompanying illustrations,
are authored by Anita Ferrar (ex-RGS Map Room, ex-Map Curator, University of
Hull) and include terms such as 'soundings' and 'depth'; I have not read
them to determine methods of bathymetric survey and 'specifications' that
may preclude them being compared 'as is' with each other.
4) Llyn Bochlwyd / surveyed by 8th Cambridgeshire Senior Scouts March 28 -
April 3 1953. - Scale [ca 1:2 350]. - 1 chart on sheet ; 24 x 18.5 cm. -
With photocopies of a different version and sheet of sections of the Llyn
and profile of Cwm Bochlwyd
5) Llyn Cwm Bychan / 24th Hastings Grammar School Rover Crewe, 1955. - Scale
1:1 200. - 1 sheet ; 17 x 23 inches. - With photographic reproduction at 1:3
000 and notes
Plus two items of *possible* relevance (they are not yet back on-site so
this cannot be determined at present):-
6) The moraines of the Cwm Idwal National Nature Reserve (includes Llyn
Idwal). - Scale 1:2 000. - Brathay, Ambleside : Brathay Field Study Centre,
1971. - 1 sheet ; 56 x 39 cm. - Note: "Field Studies Report 15 indicates
error of closure in southern half of the map"
7) Teifi Pools survey, sheet 3 : Teifi Pools topography / topographic
survey, photogrammetry, compilation and fair drawing by Topographic Science
Unit, University College of Swansea. - Scale 1:4 000. - Swansea :
Topographic Science Unit, 1981. - 1 map : col. ; 50 x 60 cm. - Information
from July 1980 to March 1981
(I was going to add an item relating to 'Cwm Dancing' but thought this might
be considered frivolous)
PS: none of these cwm lake/llyn bathymetric surveys are available as
separate maps for sale - unlike our sales stock of Scottish loch surveys
(see webpage under Map Room, then 'Maps for sale')

Subject: Bathymetric charts of Welsh lakes
Good morning all,
I have received a request for a source of bathymetric charts of Welsh
lakes and reservoirs. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
Regards,
