As you might imagine, the MOD have responsibility for several airfields, and
during the process of continued use and development we have following
PPG16/15 good practice, commissioned surveys of various scales looking at
the military buildings before they are altered or removed.
I have a number of case studies and recording briefs if anyone wants to
contact me on this theme, be warned however I'm busy so any response may
take a while!
We have also just begun a pilot designation review project with English
Heritage looking at RAF Scampton which will in the fullness of time provide
a comprehensive record and management statement for the site.

Subject: Filton Airfield
Is anyone aware of assessments being carried out on WWII airfields,
concentrating on WWII buildings and defences rather than anything
earlier. I have a vague notion of something happening at Hornchurch
Essex, but I could be wrong!
Thank You
