When getting the WWI flying boat hangars at Mount Batten, Plymouth listed
recently, I spoke to Jeremy Lake at English Heritage who was very helpful
and seems to know a huge amount about military buildings. You can contact
him at English Heritage, Room 201, 23 Savile Row, London, W1S 2ET or by

There is a very useful publication produced by Jeremy Lake and English
Heritage in 2000 called 'Twentieth-Century Military Sites'. There was also a
project called the Defences of Britain running some time ago, but I'm afraid
that I don't know much about it or if it is still active.
Hope this helps.

Is anyone aware of assessments being carried out on WWII airfields,
concentrating on WWII buildings and defences rather than anything
earlier. I have a vague notion of something happening at Hornchurch
Essex, but I could be wrong!
Thank You
