Research Associate in Medical Statistics (vacancy ref. 10037)

This post, based in the Department of Social Medicine at the University of
Bristol, is for one year and will commence as soon as possible. You will
join a team analysing data from a retrospective cohort study examining
ethnic differences in incidence, case presentation and natural history of
patients with prostate cancer. You should have a good first degree, with a
relevant postgraduate qualification, preferably (but not necessarily) at
PhD level. Experience in analysing and publishing studies in the field of
aetiological epidemiology would be an advantage, as would experience in the
analysis of survival data. The ability to work unsupervised as well as in
collaboration with other members of a team is essential.
The Department of Social Medicine has an international reputation for high
quality research in both aetiological epidemiology and health services
research. In the recent Research Assessment Exercise the Department
received the highest grading of 5*, indicating that a majority of its
research is of international standard.
