Randomised Controlled Trials Course: a guide to design, analysis,
interpretation and reporting
29th March - 2nd April 2004
St. Hilda's College, Oxford
This course provides a throrough grounding in the principles and
practice of RCTs for the evaluation of healthcare interventions. It
will include talks and workshops to give guidance on the methodology
of
trails using a problem-based learning approach.
Course objectives
. Understand the role RCTs play in healthcare policy and clinical
decision
. Understand the methodology used for RCT design
. Appreciare the issues involved in conducting and managing a trial
. Gain a basic understanding of statistical analysis frequently used
. Be able to critically appraise prublished reports of RCTs
Who should attend
The course is aimed at individuals interested in furthering their
knowledge of trail methodology or persons planning or actively
involved
in trials. Applications are invited from clinical and non-clinical
researchers and other professionals allied to medicine.
