medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear List members,
Because of my own interest in the subject, I have for some time entertained the idea of commissioning a new scholarly history of the medieval reclusive life for Brill’s medieval list. This might take the form of a short series of handbooks, 3 or 4 edited volumes, each around a general theme in the history of the reclusive life in the Middle Ages with a strong interdisciplinary character. Volumes would be in English and aimed at non-specialist scholars and graduate (or otherwise advanced) students in medieval history, theology, and literature.
I would be very interested to hear an opinion from people active in the field of medieval religious history on the desirability of such a project. Phyllis Jestice suggested that the best people to consult would be members of this list. As a long-time lurker on the Medieval Religion list I tend to agree with her.
I have prepared a short outline of what I am thinking of at the moment. Anybody interested in having a look at it is invited to contact me on my work email at [log in to unmask] Any comments would be gratefully received
