We don't have that map but we do have a 1836 printed survey of the site of Adelaide. I've no idea whether this one is well known. An image of it can be seen via our library catalogue on our website www.nmm.ac.uk . Once you find the search screen select Author - Light and Item type - map. Click on the thumbnail for zoom view. I'd be grateful if someone would let me know if it works from outside.

Subject: Map of Adelaide
Dear all
Can anyone help with an enquiry from the State Library of South Australia?
A researcher is looking for a manuscript map of the city of Adelaide
produced around 1837, believed to have been deposited with a library or
museum in the UK. Here are the details, as provided by Annette Mills of the
SLSA:
"The background behind this map is that George Strickland Kingston worked
with Colonel Light in designing the layout of the city of Adelaide in
Australia in early 1837. Colonel Light has been given full credit for this
work, however our researcher believes that Kingston was the main surveyor
and Light has taken the lime light for his work. The map I am trying to
trace is titled "Adelaide, South Australia [map] :shewing the nature and
extent of every building in the city, as surveyed and laid down by G.S.
Kingston Esq ; & by special permission dedicated by Her Majesty's very
obedient servant George S. Kingston & Edward Stephens, the proprietors,
through their agents, Edmund J. Wheeler & Co., London". Alternative titles
it is known by here are the Kingston map or Queen Dowager map of Adelaide,
South Australia."
There exists a printed version, published in 1842 by JC Hailes, London, but
it is the original manuscript that they are seeking. If anyone has any
information about this map, I'd be very grateful if they could let me know.
Many thanks,
Debbie Hall
