The online booking form for this year's Institutional Web Management
Workshop is now available from the workshop Web site at:
http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/web-focus/events/workshops/webmaster-2004/sessions/
This year's workshop will take place at the University of Birmingham on
Tuesday 27th - Thursday 29th July.
The theme of this year's workshop is "Transforming The Organisation", with
talks, parallel sessions and discussion groups addressing the issues of how
the Web may be transforming our institutions and how our institutions'
working practices and organisational structures may need to be transformed
in order to make best use of the Web. In addition many of the more
mainstream issues facing Web managers will be addressed.
The event (the eight in the series) will provide the normal mix of talks,
participative sessions and discussion groups. The importance of the
opportunity for informal discussions with one's peers has not been forgotten
- this year's social events will include a conference meal and a canal trip
- so why not bring along your entire Web team.
Topics of interest to the website-info-mgt list will be addressed at the
workshop, accessibility, Web strategies, institutional case studies, etc. as
well as a range of more technical issues.
Since Birmingham is more centrally located than the previous three events
the event this year is reverting to a lunchtime start on the first day, so
no overnight stay will be needed - although an innovation this year is a
proposed option "Introduction To The Web Community" which will take place
before lunch on the first day.
The closing date for bookings is 2 July - but we would encourage early
bookings (as this would give us time to arrange extra parallel sessions
should we receive large numbers of bookings).
