Web Pages From Scratch - An Introduction to Creating Web Pages
8th February
A practical workshop for those who are users of the web and wish to
start
creating and publishing their own web pages. It includes an
introduction to
XHMTL (the markup language behind the web) and simple CSS style
sheets for
formatting, using graphics, lists and tables, plus an investigation
of key
design issues and the use web authoring tools.
Enhancing Your Web Pages - Further HTML, Style Sheets and Accessibility
9th February
A practical workshop for those who have mastered the basics of HTML
and wish
to start creating more exciting web pages. It focuses on the use of
CSS
style sheets for enhanced presentation and HTML forms for creating
interfaces
for user interaction. The workshop goes on to explore the role of
various interactive technologies in web publishing and investigating
many of the current, important accessibility issues.
Accessible Web Design
10th February
Designing web pages that are accessible to all users is both good
practice and a legal requirement. This workshop is designed to raise
awareness of accessibility issues, particularly those raised by the
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Act (SENDA). Participants
will gain practical experience of the skills required to develop web
sites that are both accessible and usable, including writing valid
XHTML, using CSS for presentation and layout and the use of
evaluation services.
