might we not think of unpleasure as a kind of psychological response to the super-ego. "I find this unpleasurable in
as much as it catches me watching it." In fact it might be a pleasurable experience that we have to translate, as it
were, as unpleasurable. For example some of the work done on the Rambo films a few years ago that sought to show that
the masochistic tendencies of the protaginist may be homo-erotic and so many straight men in the audience while
unconsciously understanding the eroticism felt a sense of revusion.???
Also note the ways in which contemporary reviewers recieved Powell's 'Peeping Tom' their unpleasure is palpable, but in
retrospect might seem questionable.
