This paper, just coming out, demonstrates mortuary ritual patterning in an
amphibian tomb assemblage. Although, there was no burning, interpretation is
based mainly on context and differential skeletal element representation.
Dear all,
I'm currently work on the animal remains of an Etruscan grave. Between the
sacrificed animals I found the remains of two burned tortoises (Testudo
hermanni). Does anyone know other cases of this kind of sacrifice in the
ancient world ?
Thank you
