During the Summer and early Autumn of 2003 fish.technical, the technical advisory panel to the Forum on Information Standards in Heritage (FISH) discussed the technical options for developing a format for the exchange of data between heritage sector organisations, based upon FISH and World Wide Web Consortium standards. At the October meeting of FISH it was agreed that the best approach to achieve this would be to retain a suitably experienced consultant to develop the format, reporting to a project board drawn from FISH member organisations. The project has been titled the "FISH Interoperability Toolkit Project".

I am pleased to report that the project board has now been established, funds for the work are currently being put in place. On behalf of the board I would now like to invite expressions of interest in providing technical consultancy to the project.
