i have it (from a not *particularly* reliable source) that many late musak
"manuscripts" were frequently made using some sort of stencil "technology"
which, obviously, made the reprodution of multiple copies relatively cheaply
(or, cheaper).
i suppose that a close examination of the individual letters/notes might show
whether or not this was the case; as would such things as the absence (or
presence) of prickings and/or blind rulings, which would have been essential
for a traditionally reproduced "manuscript".
