i'd say so.

such a Crucifix on the binding was my first thought, as well.
but now i'm thinking that there was an image of the Crucifixion at beginning
of the section of the book which contianed the canon of the mass.
these were very common, i believe, and i *think* that they were found at the
beginning of the canon proper.
