This is confusing, there were no Slovenes (or Slavs) in modern-day Slovenia
in Jerome's time. Do you mean that he was a Slavic proto-Slovene from the
then Slavic regions (the plains bounded by approximately the northern
Romanian Carpathians, modern Poland and into Russia), or that he came from
the area of modern Slovenia, and who was therefore not a Slav?
