This presentation will give an overview of the work of JISC (Joint Information Systems
Committee). In particular it will look at some of its key activities as it affects libraries
and learning resource centres and its staff in Higher Education.

This talk will describe various recent pieces of copyright regulation emanating from the
European Union and their principal effects on UK libraries. Toby will go on to look at
some of the political pressures leading to the enactment of these measures and the
way librarians have sought to influence the practical outcome in law.
