2003 HESP Mobility Program
Call for Applications
The Higher Education Support Program (HESP) is pleased to announce the
continuation of the HESP Mobility Program for the 2003/04 academic year.
The Mobility Program is designed to support visits to/from a HESP Network
Institution (one of the institutions, sending or receiving, must be a HESP
Network Institution) with special conditions in each of the following
categories:
Student Mobility
Students enrolled at higher education institutions in Central and Eastern
Europe and the former Soviet Union and Mongolia (the HESP region) who intend
to spend a visiting semester in another country are eligible to apply.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate that the mobility grant will be used
to enhance the educational experience at the home institution and that the
mobility grant will be used for purposes related directly to the studies
undertaken at the home institution.
Please note that applications for study during the last academic year of a
student's degree program will not be considered.
Eligible disciplines: Humanities, Social Sciences and Business and
Management
Length of visit: up to one semester (5 months)
Faculty Mobility
Faculty members teaching at higher education institutions in Central and
Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union and Mongolia (the HESP region)
who plan to use the mobility grant to develop a new course, revise an
existing one or consult with colleagues on curriculum issues are eligible to
apply.
Who is eligible: Humanities, Social Sciences and Business and Management
faculty members who are nationals of countries of Central and Eastern Europe
and the former Soviet Union and Mongolia (HESP region), and non-national
teachers resident in the region and with the explicit support of the home
institution
Length of visit: up to one month
Administrative Mobility
Administrative staff employed by higher education institutions in the HESP
region who are interested in visiting another higher education institution
in order to gain work-related experience to apply at the home institution
are eligible to apply.
Length of visit: up to one week
Ineligible activities of the Mobility Program:
travel to and from the Central European University- travel to an institution
in the home country
study at summer schools
short course and seminar attendance
participation in any kind of conference and congress
Eligible costs of the visit:
travel-related expenses (travel, visa, insurance)
living expenses (stipend)
accommodation
book allowance (for students and faculty)
Up to five grants per academic year (with the exception of AUBG in case of
student mobility 1 may be awarded for visits to/from each HESP Network
Institution in each of the following categories:

Instructions to Applicants:
a) All application materials must be in English or accompanied by an English
translation.
b) Individuals may receive only one grant per academic year.
c) It is not allowed to apply to different institutions at the same time.

Deadline for Application
Applications may be submitted at any time but at least three months (student
mobility) or two months (faculty and administrative mobility) prior to the
proposed visit.

In the 2003/04 academic year the following deadline will be set for student
applications to AUBG: fall semester is due to June 1, 2003. Further

In the 2003/04 academic year the following deadline will be set for student
applications to EUSP: fall semester is due to May 1, 2003; spring semester
is due to November 1, 2003. Further information on the application to EUSP

For students considering making an application, please take notice of the
level of studies (undergraduate, masters, doctoral) offered at the
respective institution, and consider application only to a program that
corresponds to the level of study at the home institution.
