medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
In the "Mary Queen of Heaven" a wonderful painting by the Master of the
Saint Lucy Legend. (15th century Dutch - dates at 1485/1500) the BWM has
beautifully pleated red hair (and she has pronounced asiatic features) --
it's in the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.

It's one of my favorite paintings and the NGofA actually sent me a slide
of it for $30 a fews year back that I had made into a poster, that I am
starring at right now : . )
