medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear Maddy
I'm in the process of moving offices and my papers are all over the place (or rather, more all-over-the-place than usual). I have Margaret of Scotland and Margaret Marloes in the TASC data for both churches and will check to see (a) what notes Wade-Evans may have, and, when it comes to the surface, (b) what I have amongst my Carmarthenshire material.
Best wishes
Graham

Does anyone out there (Graham? Paul? Geoff? anyone?) know anything about
'St' Margaret [of] Marloes? She has churches dedicated to her at Eglwys
Cymyn and Llandawc in Carmarthenshire and in the Eglwys Cymyn guide book
there is a local folk tale of her being a daughter of a local marcher lord
and becoming a 'nun' at Llandawc (presumably one of those anchoresses that
Brother Gildas keeps finding in the medieval record.) Is she just a variant
of Margaret of Scotland (the alternative derivation at Eglwys Cymyn), or is
there any evidence for her existence and holiness?
