medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear listmembers
A colleague has asked me to find out if different types of fur were reserved
to different grades of clerics.
The specific query is what 'type of fur might a bishop use to trim his
garments and line his amice(?) in fifteenth/early sixteenth century Ireland
or England?'
As is often the case I have a vague recollection of seeing something about
this type of legislation somewhere sometime in the past. Can anyone out
there help?
Many thanks
Colmán Ó Clabaigh, OSB
