medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Advance apologies for a largely tangential response, but I think it
might prove of interest and use to some on the list.

And knowing Phyllis I'm sure the books are better measured in
shelf-feet than by tome.
I was astonished to find that Google, Teoma, and AltaVista produced
no hits for the name (searching with the first not only the Web, but
Usenet as well). Although I hadn't used it in years I thought it
might be worth trying the meta-search engine Dogpile again:
http://www.dogpile.com/info.dogpl/
and was surprised but pleased to find that it turned up a hit -
actually two identical hits:
http://www.jfkmiddleschool.com/apolek.htm
Unfortunately for the purpose of this discussion, the page provides
an English translation of what I expect is the very Babel story that
spawned the inquiry!
Another search engine which produced a hit (the same page,
unfortunately) is Kartoo:
http://www.kartoo.com/
which provides an interesting graphical results interface when more
than a single page is found. If you haven't ever tried it out I
encourage you to test it; you might prefer its way of presenting its
findings to the standard text-based form of other search engines.

Robert Mann had asked:
>>Do any list members have any information about St. Indehilda (mentioned in a
>>Russian story by Isaak Babel).
