medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
>Dear Sherry
I just got back from a trip overseas and saw this notice. Did you
manage to fill these slots? I have a very tentative idea that MIGHT
work for the second session -- though it concerns a male saint and
would probably be rather rough, given the shortage of preparation
time. I'm in the process of working on an edition and translation of
the canonization process of Thomas Cantilupe and have been thinking
for a while about the issue of the construction of sanctity in the
testimony of one or two of the key witnesses. The focus would not be
on the sources of his authority within the world, which given his
status and role as bishop etc are obvious, but on how those who knew
him "read" his actions as giving him credibility as a saint.
