Warning to all who attended TSG in Liverpool!!
The attached (small) photo shows what can happen if you use your TSG mug
for transport of hydrothermal fluids (e.g., coffee).
We suspect a vertical directed stress from fluid in mug interacted with
a radial directed thermal stress and caused a fracture to propagate
around the base of the mug resulting in 'acute bottom failure' and
catastrophic deposition of fluid over everything in immediate vicinity.
Other pictures showing extent of damage and injuries incurred are safely
deposited with our University solicitors ;)!
Lets hope that we don't see a repeat at next years TSG annual meeting in
Durham!
