Back in December a number of you offered some excellent ideas and advice
for a Spenser course focused on the tasks of glossing and editorial
commentary.
The course has been an interesting experience. I've also benefited greatly
from the help of a talented first-year graduate student, Josh Reid, who has
among other duties created a web page for the course at
http://www.uky.edu/~jsreid2/Spenser/Spenser.html
One section of the web page won't be up until early May. When the students
turn in the final versions of their commentaries, we plan to post these as
well. There's a group working on the Garden of Adonis passage, one working
on Mammon's Cave, and another on Arthur's battle with Maleger.
In the meantime, the course syllabus, assignments, and other materials are
available for anyone who wants to consult them. Thanks to all for their
thoughtful suggestions, which proved invaluable.
