Hi Anne,
You will undoubtedly be overwhelmed with suggestions, but I wish to
second some of the plugs for Daniel and put one in for Drayton: the 1599
and 1619 versions of the first sonnet to Idea, the coach sonnet--there's a
lot of good sonnets in Idea--and the Ode on the Virginia Voyage
(crucially, Drayton teaches great). I like the first
sonnet to Delia a lot. and I suppose Jonson will be included among the
famous. May I also make a plea, in an effort to differentiate your
anthology from the others, for original spelling or something close to it?
It would be nice to see something like the spirit of Sylvester's anthology
but with updated selections and notes.
Happy sorting!
