In Surrey, our catalogue is available on-line, and allows reservations for
titles which are on order - and interest in Harry P is already hotting up!
I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has come up with a particularly
clever way of handling REALLY high demand titles, such as Harry Potter.
Have you already placed an order for the new Harry Potter?
Does your library system allow reservations to be placed on titles which
are on the catalogue as "on order"?
Is this only in the library, by asking staff, or can users set
reservations for "on order" titles themselves, either at the library on
on-line?
Are your reservations handled library by library, or are all resources
available for reservation across your whole network (which may mean that
the first loan of an item with lots of requests may be at a library
other than it's home location)?
If so, are you considering any special measures for Harry Potter and the
Order of the Phoenix in order to manage what will probably be a VERY
long waiting list by June?
