> ** How to Deliver Culturally Diverse Library Services **
>
> In a recent statement issued by Resource: The Council for Museums, Archives and Libraries it was stated that there is a body of evidence that museums, archives and libraries are under-used by people from minority ethnic backgrounds and that museum, archive and library collections and services do not always fully reflect the diversity of the communities they serve.
>
> In the light of the Race Relations Amendment Act, 2000 organisations now have a responsibility to promote racial equality to ensure that they:
> - eliminate unlawful racial discrimination,
> - promote equality of opportunity and
> - promote good relations between persons of different racial groups.
>
> This event will look at the implications of this Act and strategies for addressing them in the context of delivering socially inclusive and accessible library services.
>
> This event will be of particular interest to those who are responsible for ensuring social inclusion agendas are met within their library services and those who are keen to know more about the responsibilities we all face for ensuring that people from minority ethnic backgrounds can access the services and collections they need.
>
> Speakers:
> Our first speaker is Philip Pothen, the JISC/RDN Communications Manager responsible for promoting and marketing JISC and RDN activities.
