Whether the Greek gospel texts are translations of earlier hebrew/aramaic
texts (a view not commonly held by NT scholars - for reasoning see any
standard introduction to the synoptic problem)can be separated from the
question of whether their authors show evidence of knowing Hebrew.
eg on the two source theory Matthew depends on at least two _greek_ texts:
namely Mark and Q. However the textual form of some of his quotations from
the Old Testament may indicate that he understands Hebrew.
