An invitation to take part in the 50th anniversary of the Anglo-Scandinavian Public Library Conference - a unique fully funded opportunity to participate in an international conference.
From 17th - 20th May 2003, the UK will host the Anglo-Scandinavian Public Library Conference in Exeter. The Conference, which was first held in 1953, takes place every 3 years and is hosted by 4 Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden) and the UK in rotation. Each Scandinavian country is invited to send 10 delegates, 2 from Iceland and 15 from the UK. This year the conference theme is 'Libraries, Learning and Life' and speakers will present papers from each of the participating countries. This popular and successful conference is an ideal forum to meet professional colleagues from Nordic countries and to share ideas and experiences in a warm and friendly environment. This year's programme promises a high level of professional content and to mark the 50th anniversary of the conference, we are planning a lively birthday celebration.
A study tour of new and innovative libraries will follow the conference. The study tour runs from the afternoon of Tuesday 20th May - Friday 23rd May 2003 and will include visits to libraries in Bournemouth, Birmingham and Norwich as well as others en-route.
All CILIP members working in UK public libraries are invited to apply. This conference is for public librarians at all stages of their career and working in any and all departments of the public library system. If selected, all costs of accommodation, food and visits during the conference will be paid for by CILIP. You would be responsible for covering the costs of travel to Exeter and the post-conference study tour should you decide to join it.
The deadline for applications is 7th March 2003. Further details and application forms are available from:
