To ZooArch Colleagues: I have the pleasure of studying a formal burial of a
badger (Taxidea taxus) from an archaeological site in south-central Idaho,
USA; date yet to be determined. I am generally familiar with the world
literature on animal burials, and those species in association with human
interments in North
America, but I would be grateful to hear from you via anecdote, citation,
etc. of your experience with or knowledge of animal burials - birds,
mammals, others - especially in the Western Hemisphere. Please assume I
start from ignorance!
Please respond off line to my email; if there is interest, I will compile a
reference list of all responses and more details of this find for posting to
the zooarch list.
Thank you in advance,
Susanne Miller
