TRANSPORT OPERATIONS RESEARCH GROUP
ADVANCED COURSES IN:
ROAD SAFETY POLICY (3rd/4th NOVEMBER 2003)
ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION AND PREVENTION (17th/18th NOVEMBER 2003)
ROAD SAFETY AUDITS (1st/2nd DECEMBER 2003)
Course Lecturer: John Burrell, Technical Director, Babtie Ross Silcock
As a result of Government emphasis to meet the road safety casualty
reduction targets for 2010, and the increased threat to achieving these
targets through a shortage of suitably skilled professionals, the Transport
Operations Research Group (TORG) at Newcastle University has joined with
Babtie Ross Silcock to deliver annual Road Safety Courses, based on their
extensive road safety expertise and project experience worldwide.
The courses form part of the current taught postgraduate Masters programmes
in transport offered by the University, but are also open to other
interested professionals. The courses aim to provide delegates with an
understanding of the aims of road safety policy and provide them with the
necessary skills to develop road safety policy, to investigate road accident
causation factors, to devise appropriate accident prevention schemes and to
undertake road safety audits. The courses will run annually as three two-day
modules.
