Inaugural Royal Society Francis Crick Lecture by Dr Ewan Birney
Thursday 4 December at 6.30pm
Come and see one of the UK's brightest young scientists talk about 'Being human: what our genome tells us' . In this lecture Dr Ewan Birney of the European Bioinformatics Institute in Cambridge, will present an overview of our current knowledge in genome science and give a feeling for what is in store as we crack more of the codes in the genome in the future.
Ewan Birney has achieved a leading position at a young age - he has played a key role in the group that identified and analysed the genes in the draft human genome sequence in 2001, and the draft mouse genome sequence in 2002. He has also passionate that this research data should be openly available to the research community across the world.
The 6.30pm lecture will be followed by a reception at which Ewan and his colleagues will be available for more informal discussion.
The lecture is FREE and will take place at the Royal Society, 6-9 Carlton House Terrace. Contact me for more information.
I SHOULD ALSO LIKE TO REMIND YOU THAT THE INAUGURAL ROSALIND FRANKLIN LECTURE "MAKE ME A MOLECULE" WILL TAKE PLACE ON THURSDAY 27 NOVEMBER AT 6.30PM - GIVEN BY PROFESSOR SUSAN GIBSON.
