Information Officer
Information Centre about Asylum and Refugees in the UK
An Information Officer is required by the Information Centre about
Asylum and Refugees in the UK (ICAR) to deliver and develop ICAR’s
information services. Working cooperatively with another staff member,
the postholder will be responsible for researching and writing content
for online information products, particularly statistics products;
commissioning, managing and editing information products from external
consultants; and responding to external and internal information enquiries.
The successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of information
collection methods and techniques (including the internet and online
databases), an excellent knowledge of UK refugee and asylum issues and
the ability to write concisely and clearly in a manner accessible to
non-specialist audiences. The candidate should also be comfortable with
working with statistics and quantitative data sources. Experience of
secondary research and providing and disseminating information to wide
range of users in an objective manner is essential.
The appointment is offered as a fixed-term contract either for 6 months
(full time), or for 1 year (2 days per week) – applicants should
indicate their preference clearly on the application. Salary will be on
SP4, Other Related 1 Scale, currently £20,399 per annum, inclusive of
the London Allowance (pro rata for part-time appointment).
